Digital Adventures The First Energy Drink The first thing that I researched was about the origin of energy drinks. I'm an avid Redbull consumer so I was curious to find out more about what came before. In my research, I came across Lipovitan; an energy drink created in Japan in 1962. This is believed to be one of the very first energy drink of its kind. Composed mainly of tourine, an ingredient in all modern day energy drinks, it was advertised as an aid for mental and physical fatigue. It was and still is sold in brown 100ml bottles and the liquid is bright yellow, another property of many modern day energy drinks.
