The First Energy Drink
The first thing that I researched was about the origin of energy drinks. I'm an avid Redbull consumer so I was curious to find out more about what came before. In my research, I came across Lipovitan; an energy drink created in Japan in 1962. This is believed to be one of the very first energy drink of its kind. Composed mainly of tourine, an ingredient in all modern day energy drinks, it was advertised as an aid for mental and physical fatigue. It was and still is sold in brown 100ml bottles and the liquid is bright yellow, another property of many modern day energy drinks.
I literally have no recollection of how I got onto this subject as I have no particular interest in cows but alas, here we are. Apparently, cows are one of the most dangerous animals in the UK, this is due to she sheer amount of them and their skittish nature. Many walkers and their dogs have either been attacked or killed by these large livestock, its a lot more common than people think.
-Between March 2000 and March 2020, 98 people were killed by cattle in the UK, according to the HSE. Of those, 22 were members of the public, with the rest being either farmers or farm workers. Last year, two people, both farmers, were killed by cattle. (BBC news article)
